I am proud to be a member of Fig Tree Gallery, in Fresno, California. Fig Tree offers me a place to test new ideas and work with area artists toward building a stimulating art environment for the larger community. In May 2012, the Fig Tree Gallery Retrospective Exhibit opened at the Fresno Art Museum, celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Gallery is an artists' collective entirely run by artist-members. Since 1962, it has promoted contemporary art and shared its endless permutations with fellow artists and patrons. The oldest continually existing artist cooperative in the United States, Fig Tree moved three times before locating to its present address in the Cultural Arts District of downtown Fresno where many of its member artists have established studios in the area. Fig Tree plays plays a pivotal role in the cultural growth Fresno currently enjoys.
